Asbestos • Lead-Based Paints • Project Design • Exposure Assessments

AQSAsbestos and lead-based-paints were common construction materials used in buildings for decades. Today, however, they may constitute a stumbling block for construction or demolition projects, as there are special regulations governing the removal and disposal of these contaminants. From inspections through removal and on to final clearance, AQS Environmental, Inc. is the company to contact for lead based paint and asbestos consulting services.

Asbestos and Lead Based Paint Services

  • Asbestos and Lead Based Paint Inspections

The first step in any asbestos or lead based paint job is to identify which building materials contain asbestos or are painted with lead-based paint. AQS inspectors have almost a quarter century of experience identifying asbestos containing materials and lead based paint. We provide clear, concise survey reports identifying which materials were tested and which materials contain asbestos or are lead-based-paint covered.
  • Lead Risk Assessment and Soil Sampling

The mere identification of lead-based-paint does not necessarily constitute a problem. Let our experts assess the degree of risk to those exposed, potentially saving you the cost of an expensive abatement process.

Of course, paint is not the only potential source of lead exposure to you and your family. Increasingly in recent years, lead contaminated soils have been identified in residential areas. AQS technicians are certified to collect soil samples for lead content analysis, and can translate the sampling results into real-world terms you can understand.
  • Lead Screening in Toys

Lead may be used in two aspects of toy manufacturing: Paint and Plastic. While banned in the United States in 1978, it is still widely used in other countries and can be found on imported toys. The use of lead in plastics has not been banned. It softens plastics.

AQS can test toys for lead content in both the paint and the plastic. Small-scale testing is cost prohibitive and expensive, but with sufficient notice AQS can conduct large scale (company or organization wide) screening for lead in toys.
  • Operations and Maintenance Plans for In-Place Management

The identification of asbestos in your building doesn't automatically necessitate an expensive abatement. You have the choice to manage the asbestos in place. AQS has professional management planners who will work with you to design an operations and maintenance plan, so that your facility can avoid a sizeable expense, while maintaining the health of your employees and insuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Remedial Project Design

If you need to remove the asbestos containing materials or lead based paint, whether it is for construction, remodeling, or demolition, you need a plan. AQS has expert project designers who will tailor your abatement project to fulfill your needs, comply with all applicable laws, and interrupt your business as little as feasible.
  • Exposure Assessments and Risk Management

Once asbestos has been identified in your facility, it is important to make an accurate assessment of the risk posed by the asbestos containing materials in your building. AQS inspectors are experts in condition assessment, organizing materials according to the AHERA mandated physical assessment categories.
